A first South Rim weekend links Grand Canyon Village, a rim walk, Hermit Road, and the east-rim drive without repeating the same overlook all three days.

Enough time for one rim walk, one western-viewpoint sequence, and the east-rim road without turning every overlook into a stop.

Friday

Grand Canyon Village and a first rim sunset

Check in before dark, walk the village rim between El Tovar and Bright Angel, and eat inside the park or in Tusayan before the kitchen closes.

Saturday

Mather, Yavapai, Trail of Time, and Hermit Road

Start at Mather Point, walk to Yavapai, continue toward the village, then use the Hermit Road shuttle and walking segments for the late-day viewpoints.

4:30 PM

Afternoon

Return from Hermit Road before the last connection

Check the current shuttle schedule and leave enough time for dinner in the village or Tusayan after sunset.

Sunday

Desert View and the east entrance, when the route fits

Take the east-rim road through Grandview, Moran, Lipan, and Desert View when leaving toward Cameron, Page, or Flagstaff; otherwise choose one short village walk.
